About Mid-America Hunting Association

Mid-America Hunting Association was founded in 1965 and has continually operated ever since. From a humble start as a small acreage leasing operation the Association has grown to 1/4 of a million acres today with lease land in select regions of Kansas, Missouri and Iowa. Today (as of October 31, 2006) 837 hunters, with 44% of them non-resident to Kansas, Iowa or Missouri, enjoy quality Whitetail and Mule Deer; Eastern and Rio Grande Turkey; pheasant and quail; duck and goose hunting, fishing and camping on land stretching from southern Iowa, Missouri and north and south Kansas.

Mid-America Hunting Association leases the exclusive all game scouting, hunting and fishing rights (with limited exceptions for species specific leases) for the enjoyment of the Association's members. Each property is physically viewed to ensure that the quality of the habitat will provide the members with the utmost opportunity for success. These properties are then posted and mapped for the members' benefit. The Association takes great pride in having established very close long term relationships with many of the landowners. They particularly enjoy the control the reservation system and highly restricted guest policy gives then over their land. Several of the properties leased today have been with the Association since the late 1960's.

The Association land lease is solicited with all sportsmen in mind. Whitetail archery and firearms, turkey, waterfowl, upland bird, fishermen and small game hunters all find ample opportunities to enjoy their sport.

At this point we offer a reading of our Association rules titled "Conditions of membership". Their value to the prospective applicant is they clearly establish the relationship between the hunter and the Association. To the rules.

The Association reservation system is strictly enforced for everyone's benefit. The reservation system guarantees that each party will have ample land to hunt without conflicts from other hunters. It also provides a control mechanism to prevent over-hunting on any property. The Association office is manned by a staff to accept your reservations Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5:30 PM.

All photos within this site are of game harvested on Association leased property. We make every attempt to lease the highest quality land available. What you see in these photos are what results when quality leases, skill and hard work come together.

I do everything within my power to provide our hunters with quality land to scout, hunt and fish.

Sincerely, Jon Nee, Owner/Operator

Costs

Mid-America Hunting Association Membership Levels

TypeFirst yearSecond Year
Individual$1,5001,200
Spouse2,3001,950
Individual +1 child1,7501,400
Individual +2 children2,0001,600
Individual +3 children2,2501,800
Adding a spouse to any of the individual plus child membership add 800 the first year, then 750 the second.

Having first and second year membership costs reflects a setup fee charged the first year. The membership agreement is a yearly agreement renewable at both the election of the hunter and the Association. It is not a two year agreement.

Add .0785 sales tax.

Our system is simple as we offer only one type of membership meaning that all members pay the same price for access to all land and for all seasons. We do not allow pay by the day hunts, state or species specific hunts. To do so would greatly increase administrative costs without benefit of hunt quality enhancement. Keeping down administrative costs keeps down office staff and we only have one full time secretary rather than an office staff of multiple workers that the members must pay for.

All membership costs are fixed. We do not negotiate.

On a similar approach we do not have separate landmangers, salesmen, and so on as between Jon Nee and John Wenzel working the dry lands and Jon nee and Bruce Johnson the wetlands it takes all the time and effort we have to keep up with the land. While we do have separation of responsibilities by state, website, financial accounting and so on these separations are required by continuity value of a single point of contact for that specific area.

Dependent children must be to legal guardians, within a household and on the federal tax return of the adult member. Dependent children are those 18 and under in high school and 21 and under in college. Dependent children must hunt on the same property at the same time as the adult member.

Contact

Feel free to call us anytime to discuss your particular hunting concerns. Call 913-773-8110. If we do not immediately answer the telephone be assured that all messages are returned.

Or, email us with your questions.

In all cases before call us we ask you review the particular hunting interest section of our website (deer, turkey, upland, waterfowl) to include the many hunter testimonials that will provide a variety of different perspectives about the hunting we offer.

The next informative section is the  "Hunt With Us" page that details our membership application process.

Finally, the "Overview" section that lists all the administrative details of our organization to include, lodging, rules, liability form etc., that while a bit boring to read will provide the prospective member with the administrative information that combined with the two afore mentioned areas will give the hunter a knowledge base to assess whether the Association is a good choice for him or not.

For those that enjoy watching nature unfold - we have the greatest satisfaction working that kind of hunter. Our self guided hunting success will come to those that find the opportunity rather than those that must have tag and bag success. A subtle difference that makes the day in the field all the better.

How To Hunt With us

Our application process begins with a telephone conversation (913-773-8110 to John Wenzel) where two topics will be discussed. The first, is to ensure what we offer is what the applicant believes it to be so there will not be any surprises later. The second, is to ensure we can work together. After that it is sending in the release of liability form, payment (check or credit card), issue of the initial membership material and plan the hunt.

Note 1:  Reflects the first year for the Kansas firearms tag which allowed for the one tag to be used during the muzzleloader and modern rifle season. Most were rifle hunters using the earlier muzzleloader season as a chance to scout with a gun.

Note 2: Reflects actual reservations and not the total number of deer hunters on the ground. With Missouri deer tags available over the counter the one weekend a year deer hunters use this season to conduct their deer hunts. Depending on the weather many hunters will elect to not hunt. To gauge the number of hunters dedicated to hunting the entire season look to the Kansas or Iowa deer statistics.

Note 3: Reflects hunters that hunted a blind, wade-in area, farm pond, stream, crop stubble field or watershed lake for duck or goose.

Note 4 Kansas upland bird numbers reflect a heavy opening weekend, one weekend a year hunter that after this one trip frequently never upland bird hunts again. This upland hunting is heavily for pheasant.
