Hard Hunter

Text: "I just got done with my KS/MO hunt today, and was successful in filling my tags."

For the rest of us this member/turkey hunter simply does not seem to have a bad hunt. Thank you for the very well composed pictures, nicely done!

Turkey Report

This current spring turkey season has been unusual to the point we provide this assessment of the opening weeks.

A cold front with very frigid wind and snow moved in during the Kansas youth weekend and remained for the first 4 days of the Kansas Firearms Spring season. Hunting turkeys in this kind of adverse weather is like fishing in the rain. It’s miserable and the game shuts down, but several hunters were fortunate enough to stay with it and fill some tags.

We had quite a few early reservations in SE and NE Kansas, but a lot of our NC and Western farms didn’t see much hunting pressure. So far, the number of Missouri reservations is down from the last couple of years. Conditions were ideal the first three days, so we’re expecting increasing success. Current observed turkey activity and long range forecast all points towards a return to an average spring.

Maps- It is very important to keep your maps updated from the MAHA map website. As farms turnover and we add new leases, they will be posted with the new date listed beneath the updated column.

From one of the better weather days.

Early season while the pecking order is still becoming established, hunting success can be hit or miss since the birds remain in groups.

Once a flock, such as this, makes it to open ground to feed, it can take all day for them to work their way back to the creeks or woods.

For the Kansas hunter this is prime opportunity to fill both tags at the same time.

Landowner Request

If anyone has access through work or friends, a landowner is looking for 6 Chiefs tickets to the 11-4-07 Packers game. We realize this is a strong request, but we're willing to
pay and it's worth our time to pursue. Please call Shaun if you have a lead.

Get Away House

One of our landowners is offering the members a house to rent during and after the hunting season. Several nice fishing ponds are open to anyone renting the house. The house is located near the town of Sheridan in Worth County Missouri, which is just 3 miles south of the bulk of our Taylor County Iowa land. Call Shaun at the office for details.
