13 June Season Accounting"...turkey was great. Biggest turkey I've killed. Deer hunt in [location deleted] was great, also....The pheasant photos are from opening day 2006. Morning hunt. Just me and Landon. No dog...."
Thanks Klint for the feedback always good to see the youngsters. Congratulations on your best turkey! SnakeThe top votes for the snake identification on the 11 June update is tied between rattler and copperhead. One of the more enjoyable responses was: "...it's the kind you don't mess with...".
Further clues to its identification is that it had a black snake top side coloring, no rattle, found on top of a wooded creek bank and was around 30 inches long.
According to our National Audubon Society Field Guide to North America Reptiles & Amphibians, the snake is a cottonmouth. The same reference tells us that cottonmouth snakes do not range into Kansas where this snake was photographed. Either the snake did not read the book or perhaps global warming is sending it further than pre-existing inhabited range?
Microsoft is ConfusedMicrosoft sent out an explanation of their support for HSUS, see the 1 June update about Microsoft.
Their choice to support HSUS is for two reasons. The first is that HSUS is one of the 10 most recognized social causes and that HSUS protects animals. Microsoft has confused the HSUS with the American Humane Society the group that actually protects animals. All HSUS does is make noise. While HSUS is able to fool many common citizens they also appear capable of fooling big corporations as well.
