25 June ExperienceHi John, Not as many tags as last year, but we continued our enjoyment of hunting some of the finest land in the Midwest. Actually hunted seven different states this season and just had a ball chasing gobblers. Birds were taken with bow, 12 and 20 gauge shotguns.
The real highlights were the amount and variety of game seen on the MAHA properties. We had some great close encounters with developing bucks, pheasant, etc. and we entertained gobbling birds (or vice versa) on EVERY hunt on MAHA property.
Since you’ve seen enough of me and my boys….thought I’d highlight some fine call makers with birds harvested from MAHA land in two different states. The pot calls are made by Steve Reeves of Supreme Turkey Calls in Georgia and the box call is made by Irwin Whitt of South Carolina. Also a plug for Hooks Calls whose diaphragms I use from Batesville, Arkansas.
And of course our hats off to you and Jon and Shaun for your continued tremendous support!!!
Thanks again! Steve
All we can say is, wow and congratulations. It never appears that you have a bad hunt. Thank you for taking the effort to send in your pictures and write up the text.
Tough SpringFrom one of those overcast mornings last spring just before the rain came. The tom wouldn't work.
Pasture is frowned upon by the majority of the members during the fall months. We do our best not to lease pasture with cattle, but a small majority comes with some lease package and can be very conducive to spring turkey.
