Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks has been for years in the throws of debate on their deer hunting regulations as a whole and specifically variable on bow deer hunting. This page examines select current Kansas bow deer hunting regulations and how they fit into Mid-America Hunting Association Kansas deer hunting opportunities. State RegulationMAHA Opportunity
Kansas bow deer hunting starts October 1 through December 31 after the early muzzleloader and overlapping the regular rifle deer seasons.Within MAHA every member may hunt at his schedule dropout the entire state regulated season.
Non-resident draw tag (Month of May is the application month) allows for two archery deer management units to be applied for.MAHA covers 5 of the archery deer management units.
Kansas has huntable populations of Mule and Whitetail Deer. Non-resident archery deer permits are limited to Whitetail Deer only.MAHA has lease land in three of the Mule Deer firearms and two of the archery units. Whitetail Deer exist throughout the Mule Deer range.
One buck tag per applicant.We monitor state regional trophy production and spend our lease land money where we get the most return for costs.
Fall archery deer and bow turkey seasons overlap.Within MAHA all hunting is compliant to state and federal regulations and MAHA conditions of membership allow all to hunt Mule and Whitetail Deer; Eastern and Rio Grande Turkey; pheasant and quail; duck and goose within state and federal regulations to include overlapping seasons and on the same hunting trip.
Antlerless tags can be held along with buck tags.All MAHA hunters are encouraged to harvest a doe or more each season along with a buck harvest.
Antelope, Elk and Bison hunts are available in Kansas.MAHA does not manage for or offer any Bison, Antelope or Elk hunts.
Bobcat harvest is possible and requires a specific permit.Good luck to anyone that can harvest a Bobcat by bow.
