Snapshots into Kansas quail habitat where the better wild Bobwhite Quail hunts will be found.

This could be a picture from anywhere in Kansas, Iowa or Missouri. It happens to be in Kansas and in an area allowing for mixed bag pheasant and quail hunts. In the case of the mostly wooded dry creek drainages and filter strip with bush plantings a pheasant is possible, however a quail covey or two more likely. A long walk on a quarter section lease with a mile of more each side of the creek accounting for its meandering and branches. A good spot to hunt as one side of this wide drainage can be walked out and the other back without retracing over the previous boot prints.

A Kansas wheat field left fallow for a different crop spring planting. This late summer picture allows for the illustration of the weeds that grow up in fallow wheat. That cover plus the edge cover of the wooded creek bottom would be a quail hunting spot.

The same farm as the picture immediately above pulling back some reveals milo fields separated by weed filled waterway leading down to the fallow wheat and wood edge. A long hunt/walk.

Another view of the same lease making the point that wild Bobwhite Quail so love milo that any milo field even with the barest of cover should be hunted. In the case of this lease this is a must hunt spot and it would take a half day to do so.
