27 March Last HuntJon, I thought you would like to see some excellent photos taken by my friend and hunting partner Jason. Jason & his dog, me and my dog went to (deleted) for what would be my last pheasant hunt of the season. The weather was cold but bearable and the winds were light and steady. The first field of the day, my dog of 7 yrs acted up as if he had never hunted before so I put him up for the day. Jason thought this would be a good time for him to leave his gun behind and attempt something with his camera that he had not yet been able to accomplish. The goal was to get on film, the dog, hunter, and flushed bird all in one frame. As you can see in the photos [to be published as continuations] he was able to do this not once, but three times. They are all outstanding pictures, but my favorite is the covey flush. I believe that photo to be of magazine front cover material. He also took the picture of my pheasant limit with his dog (who is really the hero of the story) and me of course. All three photos of flushed birds came from one 40 acre field of moderate quality grass. In between each rooster point the dog pointed at least 3 hens. We got a lot of points in that one field that many would have driven by. Jason was a little reluctant to send in the photos since he thought it would be perceived as "bragging". I have no such reluctance. Thanks for all your great work on the web site. I look at it every working day. And keep up the wonderful work on the land contracts. Found while hunting: German Shorthair Pointer, Male (intact) 70LBS. No identification. Vet estimates 2-3yrs old. Good physical condition. He has been de-wormed, tested (negative) for heartworm, and up to date on all shots. Dog is not gun shy, however hunting abilities are unknown. This dog has been living inside house with my family and two other dogs for last 2 months. He would make a good pet, and for those so inclined to spend the time and effort, perhaps a good hunting companion. Much more information on dog is available upon request.
