Donations For Greensburg Tornado

We were waiting for things to settle down a little before we made an attempt to help out the community of the Greensburg Kansas, in Kiowa County that was devastated by an F-5 tornado on May 6, 2007.

As far as we know, all of the landowners and their families we lease from survived, but those that lived in town and several others that lived on their land close to town lost just about everything.

We would like to ask anyone that is interested in helping out send a cash donation to:

Haviland Friends Church
322 North Main St.
Haviland, Kansas 67059

Make checks payable to the church notation for tornado relief.

If you decide to make a contribution please make note you are associated with Mid-America Hunting Association so they know the direction the contribution came from.

Campaigns & Elections Magazine Names its 2007 Rising Stars

Campaigns & Elections magazine today named its 2007 Rising Stars. One of the most prestigious honors in politics, the award goes to people 35 or under who have already made a significant mark in political consulting or advocacy. Campaigns & Elections chose 10 Democrats, 10 Republicans and five nonpartisan leaders this year out of a pool of several hundred nominees.

Michael Markarian (N) is the executive vice president of The Humane Society of the United States, chairman of Humane USA PAC and president of The Humane Society Legislative Fund. In 2006, he led two successful ballot initiative campaigns: one that defeated a measure to allow mourning dove hunting in Michigan and another to ban cruel confinement of pigs and calves. In 2004, through the PAC, he launched an independent expenditure campaign against Rep. Chris John, opposing John's support for cockfighting, leading to the election of Rep. David Vitter to the open Senate seat in Louisiana.

Fishing

Hello MAHA folks...good fishing trip last weekend...perfect weather...complete solitude...very little to no wind...no clouds...good bite! No lunkers (although we did have a couple of break-offs) but plenty of nice healthy bass and crappie. By the way...turkeys are still gobbling for any of those members with remaining tags.

Thanks Matt & Crew for the reminder of what summer holds.
