Upland bird hunters will find that Missouri offers the Bobwhite Quail specialist the ideal combination of wood edge on crop field repeated for many miles. Our private land hunts offer non-competitive dog work as no dogs are mixed with other hunters. Pheasant hunters are best advised to hunt elsewhere. What Missouri upland bird hunts offer is a chance at different bird concentrations and easy walking habitat with through the woods and open sky shot opportunity. Missouri quail where mild winter long weather, no snakes or cactus, allows for the entire day and every day of the season dog work on coveys and singles. Missouri with its many dry and wet drainages cutting through crop fields provides more quail habitat than any one hunter could cover. For those that seek season long dog on quail action our wild Bobwhite Quail region provides just that. Missouri pheasant hunts are on the weak side with the occasional rooster a bonus rather than an anticipation. We do not recommend Missouri for those seeking a good pheasant hunt. Missouri waterfowl hunts are the best of our three state region. No wetlands in Kansas or Iowa compares to the large natural and manmade still and moving water as found in the Lower Missouri River Basin. Those seeking a quick overview of our waterfowl hunts will quickly find our wetlands, blinds and limited hunter pressure a way to avoid public wetland's hunters. Duck hunts are over water level controlled wetlands planted in duck attracting cover and from permanent blinds. The hunter provides his own decoys and calling skill. Our duck hunts and wetlands are what we build to the best available with the migration and weather being the only variables. Goose hunts over large field sets is possible due to our thousands of acres of Missouri crop fields that allow the goose hunter to scout out and set up close to where the geese are working. Our goose hunts are do it yourself hunts without permanent spreads or blinds. Each self guided hunter can set up using wind and terrain to his advantage.
Missouri HuntingPerhaps the most support anyone could offer as to why to hunt Missouri is that amongst our membership/hunters across the board for all hunting disciplines the combination most employed is to hunt Missouri and either Kansas or Iowa. That combination of Missouri and... is what most will settle on typically not later than their third year.
