22 November Deer"...I had to take with my phone camera after I hung it in tree all night and batteries died in my regular camera. Hunted a total of 10 days in [location deleted] and this was best I seen within shooting distance. With all the rain and corn in the fields hunting was slow and it was time to get to [location deleted] were I took the other deer this morning. Archery hunted bears and deer in Manitoba for 9 days this year besides spring turkey and fall deer with our Assc. so wife and boss have been pertinence to this point... Really enjoy hunting club properties, keep up the good work..."
For the rest of us this member/hunter has had a consistent string of successes commensurate with the level of effort he has applied setting a standard of dedication most would like to achieve. Congratulations on yet another harvest. Thank you for sharing.
Land SnapshotsFor those that have not been to Jewell County the picture series below is of some of the better bird habitat to be found in that county.
The panoramic above shows well the recurring land use. A lot of wheat and milo with limited ground level bird cover. Limited woody deer cover.
Standing in the same spot as the first picture turning the camera 180 degrees shows a tall grass field next to the milo.
The primary cover is the dry drainage cutting through crop fields.
From inside a dry drainage looking out to the crop field in the far ground. Combination quail and pheasant habitat.
In spite of this open terrain there are deer of fine caliber. The sharp eye will detect in this picture newly turned terraces on a grass slope that had not previously been in row crop. The green field in the background is winter wheat of a long standing crop field.

AdminDeer hunting primary memberships are close and not to reopen any earlier than the end of the Kansas antlered season. For all the wait-to-apply list appears to extend out to March.
