13 November Quail
Jerry, a long time successful quail dog trainer and hunter reports the birds require walking, early season warm and dry. These pictures from the opener continue to reflect current conditions although some recent cooler mornings have yielded good dog work on coveys and singles.

John, Pics from the north zone opener attached. The hunting was a little slow. Not enough cold weather yet, but we did get a couple birds. I've got a year and four month pup that had his first outing for ducks. His first real world duck retrieve was a nice blind retrieve.
Check out this big fat greenhead. Taken in middle zone on a hooky from work one morning. Weather hasn't cooperated much (no wind) but we have managed to scratch out some birds here and there. We were able to take 3 large greenheads that day and had a huge flock 50+ birds pitch into the dekes. I had flock shock for the first time in a long hunting career and only fired one shot. Fortunately it lead to the drake pictured. I cant remember the last time I was able to get into intercontinental Mallards this early in the season. I'm a big supporter of the club and have actually recruited a member who is now my most regular hunting partner and I have another one in the works. The flexibility and opportunity to not have to fight the crowds on the public marshes is the reason I renew my membership. MapsPlease check the map website for the most current changes. There are only a few, but it is important to have the most current maps for each hunt.
The UnknowingFeedback received from update page readers is always interesting on the staff side of the Association. It serves well to keep us informed of member perspectives. And, that of non-members as well. While we do not share most of the feedback we receive one non-member piece of feedback we chose to share with members on this page included comments the harvest pictures on the update page are not that impressive and that other websites had better success rates [based on pictures]. That is all we needed to hear to end the conversation with that person occupying our time as that one statement by itself clearly establishes that hunter as not knowing what it is to be a self guided fair chase hunter and that every day is not a limit/tag day.
