| Attempting to show quail habitat in pictures is always tough. It is simply too large for any pictures series to show in total. The earlier pictures were from during the season showing where coveys were found after the hunt. Comments about such pictures have included how bleak the habitat appears to be. In contrast we offer these late summer pictures from a very good region and of a lease that has always had consistent quail production.
The same contiguous lease in both pictures above and below where the self guided quail hunter with two dogs will run out of energy and daylight before covering all the ground. The entire acreage available in this quail hunting unit is 1,320.
The value of this lease is that it comes to us as largely a fallow farm in a large grain (corn and beans) region. The better crop ground had beans just harvested when the pictures were taken and all the former pasture in weeds as seen above. Return to: |
