Muzzleloader Deer

Hey John,

My brother [above] and I had some success with the muzzle loaders this year. We had some difficulty because the deer pattern switched from soy beans to acorns right before the season opened. With a few adjustments, we were able to get onto a couple of nice ones.

Congratulations to Andy and Tom, anytime two brothers can hunt and tag out on the same trip is always a special time.

Waterfowl & Wetlands Progress

Henry C. In a previous update we showed a couple photos planting millet around the lake bed in Henry C. We were fortunate enough to have several good rains immediately after we planted the seed. Since the millet was at a delicate stage we closed the north side of Thompson's Lake during the early teal season. The south side of the lake has good water and blind #4 is huntable, but blind #3 is not.

The picture above was taken at an early stage of planting the north side of Thompson's lake in Japanese Millet. The picture below is Blairstown Lake waiting for water.

In a previous update we talked about removing blind #2 at Blairstown Lake to only have one north blind and one south blind to improve the quality of the hunting. While scouting the conditions of the blinds we discovered the tree next to blind #3 at Thompson's Lake was hit by lightning and the blind burned to the ground. Blind #3 was in rough condition, so in short blind #2 from Blairstown Lake has physically replaced blind #3 at Thompson's as shown.

Some more early and later pictures from Fisher's Lake.

This year the conditions worked well for us to improve wetland bottom conditions, repair levees and successfully plant/grow plenty of food.
