22 Sep Early SeasonsTeal and dove are two species we aren't able to keep track of because it's the time of year we're going too many different directions to follow the patterns of the dove and teal.

21 Sep Upland ForecastsBy this point in the year most upland bird hunters have had their fill of forecasts and "Where To Hunt" magazine articles. The last to add to the mix is Kansas.
For any that may have missed it Missouri is posted and so is Iowa. And, of course we have our version. The bottom line is the indicators of as good or better bird hunting for the 2006 season are identified and we are all looking forward to a great season behind dogs.
20 Sep LeasesAll are always interested in new leases we have picked up and issuing notification of all added and dropped land is one step too far for our timeline. The online maps will continue to be the source to determine where we have new ground. The pictures below are from a lease we did pick up and shown here just as a sample of some of the habitat we have secured for the Association hunter.
19 Sep MapsThe online maps do receive the bulk of the yearly revisions from the period after spring planting and before harvest, however they are revised throughout the year as land contracting always has been and always will be a year round effort. The benefit is as all can identify is that the most up-to-date maps are posted to the website and the consequence is that all must check before a hunt or scouting trip they have the most current map sheets. There is not any yearly "cutoff" when all maps are posted with all changes for the hunting season, this business is not that easy.
LodgingThe same as for maps is true for the lodging list in that it is updated when we detect changes during land runs, members notify us of changes and business owners contact us. The variety of dates across the lodging pages give indication of the frequency of changes. In both cases of the maps and the lodging list we strive to make the most current information available to the members. In both cases the member must check for the most current information. For those that remember the old paper issued maps once a year system this online year round revised organization most will agree to be much improved.
Deer HuntsJohn, Having only been a MAHA member for a year now, I did not want to fall into a rut and hunt the same properties year after year. So I've put over 5,000 miles on the truck in the past month scouting new properties in different parts of KS, MO and IA. MAHA has some diverse, outstanding, quality land. It has been fun to scout/hunt and what attracted me to MAHA in the first place. Attached is a doe taken Saturday in [location deleted]. In just a quick two hour morning hunt I saw an armadillo, raccoon, bobcat, coyote, turkeys, and several deer. I know that pictures of big bucks sell, but the boys and I try to take 5 doe a year in which we donate them to needy people through our church. Again, just another testament to the fine diversity of the land that you are leasing. Thanks! Steve
Thank you Steve for the feedback. Most would agree that if just half the deer hunters harvested one doe each how much better our good deer hunting would be. Steve carries his load and that of others.
ScoutingPre-season scouting is liberal with the entire unit map sheet available on most cases for the scouting effort. During season scouting starts with the first of the fall seasons, September 1 running through the end of spring turkey. During season scouting is to the individual numbered property and managed so that no one hunter's scouting effort interferes with any hunter's hunt.
