Turkey Season Success
John,
I wanted to email you and personally thank you for the assistance with our first turkey season as new members and share our success photos. Your suggestions were very helpful in allowing for a very successful hunt for my son Austin who harvested his first Eastern turkey. As evidenced by the smile in the pictures he had a great time! I was also fortunate to harvest a turkey as well the following day. I have also included a picture of the turkey that I harvested in [location deleted] the week prior on a solo hunt (I need to work on my camera skills). I am looking forward to hopefully many more opportunities to enjoy hunting with my son as members of this quality organization. Again I offer my thanks to you and the rest of the association for providing a great opportunity for families to enjoy quality hunting time together!
Steve

For the rest of us Steve joined at the start of spring turkey season, scouted as part of the hunt, went hunting to include putting the additional pressure on himself for getting his son Austin successful and pulled it off all the while on a fly-in and rental car hunt on one of the less quality turkey years. Good hunters always show through. Congratulations to Steve and Austin.

The Other Side
Animal Rights Lobby wins. Massachusetts To Shut Down Dog Racing in 2010. "After 75 years, Greyhound racing has taken place in Massachusetts...last november, a contentious ballot question...narrowly passed ending the sport in the state forever..."

Agriculture Accused of Blocking Puppy Care Bill 04/23/2009 by Gary Truitt, Hoosier Ag Today.

"Indiana agriculture has found itself on the defensive as the issue of animal cruelty heats up in the Indiana General Assembly. A beautiful spring day provided the backdrop for a rally Thursday on the steps of the Statehouse in support of legislation that would regulate dog breeding operations. HB1468 better known as the puppy mill bill is sponsored by Rep. Linda Lawson, D-Hammond. About 50 animal activists and their dogs protested efforts to change the legislation. Many of the speakers, including Terry Scott of Indianapolis, blamed agriculture for opposing the legislation, 'This is about a dog, not a hog.' She said the bill had no connection with agriculture, 'There is no good reason to oppose this bill.'...The Senate bill (SB338) creates a definition for 'domestic animal' which includes cattle, swine and other livestock. This leaves potential for future interpretation to encompass the agriculture industry, threatening the livelihood of many Indiana farmers."

It should be lost on no one that the animal rights groups gain more press coverage than does the farm or hunting lobby.
