Great day at the golf course this is my [location deleted] bow kill got him on last day. Hunted a different property each day. Saw toms on each, miss 3 before I got this 10 3/4 in tom. On [location deleted] I called to a tom for solid hour, he would not come in, finally he flew to a tree latter flew to another tree behind the blind then dropped to the ground half hour later. I decided to give up and pack out, made a last effort with very loud aggressive cutting calls he ran behind the back window swung around in front of the blind only to see my tom decoy, he turned to leave and I shot missed. On [location deleted] I called in 3 toms and they came running. They were too close together finally after they moved apart I once again shot, missed, he gobbled at me numerous times as he left. The first morning I had roosted a tom the night before and set up on [location deleted] I had my bow sight hanging out the window to light up the pins. At legal time I looked over to check my pins and there outside of the window was a long beard doing the same at full strut at 18 yds with me biting my lip. He circled out I got bow back in the blind, shot, missed another. The flock came out of the timber, 3 toms put on a great fight at 40 yds. Toms came by and once again I miss judged the distance and missed. Hunted [location deleted] had many toms there also. Saw a tom on [location deleted] great hunt plenty of toms.

For the rest of us Steve is one of those long time traveling archery turkey and deer hunters that hunts multiple states hard with success we all would like to have. He sets the example on a second point as he has more gray hair than most. Steve is the kind of hunter we all would like to spend time with in the field. Thank you Steve for telling just how challenging it is to be successful.

Fishing
On this recent outing crappies were the goal, but the bass took control which was not a problem. Caught at least 30 in the 2 to 4 lb range and 2 crappies over 12 inches. All were caught and released.

Thanks Andrew for the good bass picture.

Iowa
"The two sides also compromised on hunting and fishing fees for out-of-state residents. The Senate had voted to raise them, but the House didn't want to do that. In the end, both sides agreed to raise just the deer-hunting fee for out-of-state residents."
