Late Season Quail Hunt
A series of photos taken from 2-half days of hunting. The hunt was cut short by a snow storm.

iowa quail hunt

A covey pointed in cover created from a previous year's ice storm.

A single that decided to stay behind the covey rise.

Four coveys were pointed and a scattered covey was flushed. 9 quail and 1 pheasant were harvested.

Thanks guys. It is always good to see the dogs in the field.

For non waterfowl and upland bird hunters those that are dog hunters take pictures of their dogs in the field seeking from the hundreds taken in that dog's lifetime the few that will go on the wall. Those that hunt with dogs are often misunderstood as seeking the birds, upland or waterfowl. Most that hunt with dogs do so to enjoy their dogs. The birds are only an element to get to that dog work. Waterfowl and upland bird hunters on the opposite side cannot imagine the motivation deer hunters' have to spend endless hours quietly in stand for 10 seconds of action.
