First Year Memories
Sending you a favorite picture from last season.

The other is my six month old Pudelpointer Coco, who will be hunting with us this fall.

Thanks Chris, we always get feedback about how bird hunters like to see other dogs in action. Good luck with your pup.

The one and only....
hey John...had a good frogging trip last night...my oldest son and I gigged and/or grabbed our limits in just a few hours. I prefer grabbing or using a rod and reel to gigging so I can release frogs that are too small but sometimes using a gig is the only way. Still lots of frogs out there too as we missed or couldn't locate several on each pond we visited and we didn't even get to a few other ponds on the property. We had pretty good walks between ponds and nearly ran into the wrong end of a skunk but fortunately the nearly full moon allowed us to see him before he saw us...thank goodness. Pretty good time but now comes the best part...supper! Matt

Thanks Matt, you certainly have a diversified life!

It seems to be a requirement of any conversation involving any industry to ask how is the business given the past year's economy. MAHA staff of course have addressed this inquiry a multitude of times and would like to reassure all those out there that may have any concern that MAHA is doing just fine and will continue. We survived the Jimmy Carter years and were alarmed back then when gas broke 50 cents a gallon and we did not have the cash in our pockets to fill the tank, credit cards were not a daily option in those times. Buying $5 and $10 of fuel at a time was the norm and taking a weekend away with the wife for under $100 once a summer was the plan. It was common to be happy if the inflow was $10 ahead of that week's outflow. Today's economy in spite of the national news is much better and we are able to walk away from landowners who have unreasonable lease expectations as there are enough folks out there that know the value of diversified income.
Some highlights.
Of the past 15 Association memberships allocated 78% were sponsored by current members. This is one of the report card evaluations we use to gauge service quality.
We are as happens every year at this time turning away non-sponsored membership applications based on unit tags held.
Recreation has always been more recession proof than most industries as any weekend visit to a camp grounds will quickly show.
