Upland Birds
The value of this quote is it comes from a deer hunter while out scouting this past weekend on deer ground that most bird hunters would pass on.
"Pheasants are everywhere. I saw 8 hens with 4 offspring in each family at various times....I know little about pheasant. Roosters everywhere. Even saw several quail."
About his deer scouting:
"In all I probably spotted over 40 deer this weekend. 10 bucks. Probably 4 of them were legitimate bruisers."
And other wisdom:
"Looks terrible [land] from the air [meaning aerial photo] and great from the ground. Can't beat boots on the ground I guess."

Waterfowl
A late season hunt from one of our wetlands after the duck season was closed. A period of time with little to no competition.

From Mike looking out to help others: Came across this report from the USFW about 2009 Duck survey. Looks like duck hunters may have an excellent fall.
"...13 percent greater than last year's estimate and 25 percent greater than the 1955-2008 average..."

October Hunt
From last Oct. left the decoy out because of the bucks coming in. The decoy was trashed when I went to get it the next morning. Not enough of the decoy left in one spot to even take a picture of.
