30 June

Just when we thought we made it through all the pictures of this crew we are reminded that while they have all begun to look alike this picture was of a separate hunt.

A hunt to remember. Sat all day empty handed until the last half hour of shooting time. Had 2 large flocks come in within 20 yards making the wait well worth while.

Thanks guys, you had a remarkable season.

Upland Bird
At some point last year I found a web site that, among other things reports daily rainfall for each county within The U.S.A. The search feature allow you to zero in on a county of interest or in many cases a part of a county of interest. It also allows you to check rainfall for a particular time period such as the spring breeding season for pheasant and quail. I thought this may be useful to your members.

Spouses
In honor of those wives who find it a pleasure to accompany their husbands a field some pictures of note sent in by the wives this past season.

The scissor tail seems to be a favorite of the many bird watchers in the Association.

Kansas Deer
Mike Hayden, Wildlife and Parks secretary, said non-resident deer permits left over from the recent application period and drawing will go on sale in about two weeks. More than 4,600 any-whitetail permits will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. All non-residents who applied drew whitetail permits. About 37-percent who applied for the mule deer option were successful. All management units will have leftovers.

HSUS Make Progress
HSUS is able to make non-animal rights organizations enter into talks at the table. If HSUS can do this with farming, hunting will follow.

"The OVMA, the Ohio Farm Bureau and other interested parties met with the HSUS earlier this year for a "dialogue" regarding current [livestock] housing practices in Ohio."
