Pheasant
It appears information of the last two good years for both Kansas pheasant and quail hunting is getting about if the measure of membership applications is any indicator. It looks like your Association upland bird hunting primary interest category may go the way that deer and turkey have gone with more non-resident than resident members.

From a traveling bird hunter.

"...Here are some pics from a hunt I went on a couple weeks ago [we continue to run behind on updates]...I attached a pic of my female retrieving a rooster...I hope to get one more trip before the end of January....Take care, Bryan "

Good dogs that work a variety of cover for point.

Thank you Bryan. All that bird hunt with dogs will agree with the value your pictures show.

Hunting Hypocrisy
[Kansas] Wildlife and Parks considers longer deer season, Mar. 15, 2009, by Michael Pierce, The Wichita Eagle.

This consideration is not due to biology or hunter needs, but rather to state politician political greed.

"...[State] Rep. Joe Seiwert, R-Pretty Prairie,...wants to bring back the transferable permit...As for the non-resident permits, he said, 'We just want to get people back to hunting in Kansas. Most (who get transferable permits) get them them for people who hunt their land.'... He thought many out-of-state residents were denied a chance to hunt in Kansas last year because of a lack of permits...Seiwert leases much of his land for out-of-staters to hunt but allows some Kansas hunters access for free to shoot does when the non-residents are gone...Last year, several hundred permits for out-of-state residents in Unit 15, which covers most of Seiwert's district, were leftover after the draw..."
