Late/Spring Goose
We received another report that continued a theme we have heard starting back in November. That idea is the closer to a Missouri public wetlands hunted the more call/spread shy the geese. Getting out from these areas and scouting the stretches between the large public wetlands starting around an hour's to more likely two hour's drive has given better results. The issue is not so much the public wetlands hunters it is the heavy pressure from private land guided goose hunts that surround the well known areas of Bob Brown, Squaw Creek and such. Duck hunters during the regular season in this area have made similar comments concerning our Holt County wetlands. Some may remember not too long back we dropped some Holt County crop field acreage simply for it while being in the right area to see much flyby it was not producing well enough for hunts. The general/local consensus is the outfitters in this region may have advertised themselves out of future business as most agree it is not enough to see thousands of geese, it is the shells fired that measures an outfitter's success. Down south has seen less guide hunter pressure.

Humor
Anyone of any seasoning knows full well that hunting requires a sense of humor. The only bad days are those without that attribute.

From an Association hunter that went scouting and shed hunting reported finding no sheds but plenty of these.

Duck
Just a nice Mallard picture from last year remembering what not too long ago was a good waterfowl season.
