Quail
From a traveling Association hunter that has sent his first picture. It is always good to hear from folks. Thank you Adam. Good luck with the season to come.

Non-resident comments we have heard independent of this picture and related to it have included that quail hunting in the Association was easier in one respect defined as the lack of equipment required. That comment came to us and was made memorable by a Georgia plantation manager who among other things organizes the plantation mule driven wagon quail hunts for guests. The work includes yearly maintaining the mules, the wagon for guest use requires cleaning, paint touch up and before the guest hunt, the mules are hitched and worked to take the edge off. All for a morning hunt on a quail population that is well cared for on the plantation's enhanced habitat. His off season on the plantation begins after the Christmas Gala. It is January when he travels up our way for his annual relief of just being able to walk and hunt with his dogs.

The Other Side & The Farm Lobby Excels
Both animal rights groups and the farm lobby have active at government locations presence to influence political decisions in favor of their special interests. Hunter/conservation efforts are lacking as can be measured in main stream media.

State Farm Groups Urge Lawmakers to Support Livestock Interest, Wisconsin Ag Connection, 03/24/2009.
"A group of 15 Wisconsin livestock and agricultural organizations sent a joint letter to each of the state's Senators and Assembly representatives on Monday urging them to stand up for their industry when being lobbied by animal rights activists. The effort was put into motion after the groups learned that the Humane Society of the United States has scheduled its first lobbying day at the State Capitol later this month."

Spring Turkey Progression
A good sign when the toms seem to have broken out of their bachelor groups and are out looking for hens.

As seen March 21 by Jon Nee while out and about on the land.

Spring burns continue and are likely so through the beginning of April.
