Reference sponsorships. We are in that period of the year when we reject more membership applications than at other times. Following previous years this is likely to continue through Iowa and Kansas' non-resident deer tag issue. What is different this year and the posting for this admin update is we rejected an applicant that had been sponsored by a current member. A rarity for us. Typically when a current member in good standing refers another hunter that referred hunter is of the same good character as the current member. We believe that for the most part current members know the character of that referred hunter better than we can determine over the telephone. In this case the referred hunter became difficult to work with to the point we declined his application. The point is what we have seen through the years are those applicants that seek service in excess of the Association rules are simply wasting everyone's time. We ask members sponsoring others to have those others read the rules before talking with us.
