Thought you would enjoy a couple pictures of the end of our MAHA turkey season.
A 2 year old with 4 beards…and a 3+++ year old that weighed in at over 27 pounds and sported matching 1 ½” powder horn spurs.
Thanks for the great habitat and even better…great folks to work with in planning hunts.
God Bless and we'll talk at you all in the fall!
Steve

...I had scouted another farm late Sunday last weekend and went in there early Saturday morning. I did hear some gobbles early before sun up but in the pasture east of me. After fly down I seen 5 turkeys out on the field I was hunting and after calling got 2 jakes to head toward me, didn't know they where both jakes at the time. I got them worked up and fanned out and could see one had a full fan but wasn't sure on beard when he turned at 24 yards I let the arrow go and whoop he took off back into timber with arrow in him which is good. I could see he was hit hard and after the other bird came back out of the timber I marked the spot and walked over to find him buried in the weeds dead just inside the timber. He had 5" beard and big bird so I went back and started calling again. A half hour later I got two birds to start gobbling and could tell they where getting closer. I seen the tom out on other side of the field and kept working him with calls, after ten minutes got him to commit to decoys. When he got to 22 yds I aimed and when the arrow hit he had turned slightly so the arrow bounced right off his back, crap. I quick yelped him a couple times and he turned around, puffed up and came back up to the decoys where I got a good hit on him with the 2nd arrow. He flew across the creek and died where he landed. Big old bird with 9" beard, boy was I pleased. What a morning of hunting... Steve
Thank you Steve. Your story made it easy to imagine your hunt. Congratulations on the hard way.
