Upland Birds
"...John, Got back late yesterday afternoon from a 5 day upland bird hunting extravaganza!..." Mike

For the rest of us Mike is one of those hunters that enjoys life during the seasons more than most. So far this year he has harvested a Kansas antelope, took a whitetail doe and stalked for days an especially large Mule Deer without a shot opportunity. Between those other activities he upland bird hunts and covers a lot of ground doing so. He has sent in for all to enjoy more non-harvest pictures than those of game as he enjoys the hunt as much as the harvest itself. He also recognizes folks like harvest pictures to further motivate them to get out and hunt their dogs. Exactly the kind of hunter most others would like to pair up with.

Mike's hunts on this trip covered two regions with fair to great bird reports coming from Mike and others. Overall, upland bird hunter numbers have been low to date. Come the more reliably cooler weather of December we typically see an increase in activity.

Minimum maintenance roads have been troubling for weekday hunters as the recent rains have been early in the week and drying in time for the weekends.
