Kansas and Iowa deer tag holders must have a readable copy of their tag sent into the office before reservations. Email or snail mail: MAHA, 1192 Grandview Road, Grandview Missouri 64030.

Mule Deer
For those heading out to Kansas Mule Deer country this year (We have more western Kansas bow hunters this year than in previous years to include first year MAHA members.) these pictures are of just one type of habitat that many bow hunters seek to find. This is opposed to the more open ground Mule Deer occupy. Area pheasant hunters know very well how Mule Deer will be found in the more open country far to the disadvantage of the bow hunter. Those with a combination whitetail/Mule Deer bow tag hunting these more closed in (relative to this region) farms will probably find more whitetail than Mule Deer.

Waterfowl
Duck hunter thoughts from one with gray hair and been on water since before driving age.

Ducks get much exposure to hunters in blinds with variable camouflaging of the blinds or the hunters inside them. They soon seek to avoid blinds the further south they migrate. MAHA's setup on your own waters and fields allow for the easier to conceal layout, portable or coffin blinds, or other than the typical wetlands blinds and pits that look much different from the air than water level.

Then from your MAHA staff.

Waterfowl and wetlands maintenance are a year round process that starts with gathering rippy grass in peak heat of the summer months to making late season blind and pipe adjustments in the frigid cold and ice.

While working these and other land projects over the past 26 years, we've had some spectacular encounters with wildlife that only a photo could properly exemplify. Unfortunately, to consistently carry a camera working waterfowl and other land projects is not practical. At times when the work is complete, we’ll sit back and attempt to photograph wildlife using MAHA habitat that was enhanced for their use.

On this particular day, we were checking a dam that was repaired in the fall from beaver damage, to see if the beavers moved on or came back. Unfortunately, they came back.

It is often possible with patience to capture some birds in picture.

Last season.
