Hunts
States | The right habitat within the right region of the state is a key factor. Our better upland bird hunting is within the watersheds In the central midwest a watershed means more than in many other parts of the country. Within a watershed we have the better soil conditions that allows for grain crop agriculture rather than poorer soil regions that allow for cattle grazing at most. Also, within the watersheds we have dry, intermittent and year round drainages, streams and rivers. These drainages cut through the grain crop fields making the mix between upland bird food source of waste grains and during hunting season winter protective cover. It is along these drainages that these pictures showing December, during the upland bird hunting season, cover exists as they are inaccessible to tractors.
These watersheds are also outside of the classic Great Plains farm fields where 40/acre/hour farm equipment clean tills from road edge to road edge. If any of this lexicon fail to illicit the proper or clear imagery then simply take these pictures as snap shot reminders that all farm fields even with minimal appearing cover should be hunted. |
